Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Every single one of us were created with a pre-packed purpose. God is the One Who did this. Just like He created an apple seed and jamb-packed it with the purpose of being an apple, so He did the same with us in our mother’s womb. If an apple seed wanted to be an orange seed because oranges are in all the commercials and have nice bright peels and get squeezed into the most famous juice in the world, then it’s going to fail to become what God wanted it to become. God had a reason for making an apple an apple, and the only way it will become what it was intended to become is to die to itself and let God bring it’s life out (just like when you plant it in the ground). Then, when it’s matured the life that flows through it can provide nourishment for people.

We must do the same – we don’t need to try to be what God didn’t create us to be no matter how good He’s hooked other people up. He doesn’t need another one of them – He wants one of YOU! The you He created you to be. You have a pre-packed purpose and the only way you will come to discover it is to DIE to yourself and to let Him bring it’s life out of you. Just keep following Him and don’t try to ambitiously make things happen.

Our pre-packed purpose is discovered through prayer. We don’t pray and ask God what it is, we pray and ask God Who He is! When we pray our goal should be to get to know God, and when we get to know God He will teach us about us! He will reveal ourselves to ourselves when we focus on Him. But we won’t do this unless we first die to whatever it is we want – just like an apple dying to its desire to be an orange.

Our purpose is discovered as we focus on a Person – God Almighty! When we focus on Him just watch the doors that open for you and the Holy Spirit’s wind at your back propelling you forward.

How do you know if you’re following God’s purpose for you?

1) When doors open automatically – you don’t have to push them open.
2) When you are at total rest – you’re not letting ambition lead.
3) When you feel energized the more you do it – it’s not burning you out.
4) When you have the grace to handle the blessings that come from it – you don’t get prideful or selfish.
5) When you feel God’s power working through you – others will experience change (like Paul in prison when the other prisoner’s chains fell off).

My aim is simple: I want to get you hooked on God’s Word so that you become the godly man your wife and kids need you to be—the faithful warrior God called you to be. As men, we were made to fight, and our greatest weapon is the Word of God. Armed with His truth, we can win the battles desperately raging against us, our marriages, our families, as well as the culture in which we are called to change.
