Look Up

By Jason Benham

As married couples it’s often difficult to keep our focus where it needs to be. When the stuff of life hits we’ve got to remember to keep our focus on God and not ourselves or our spouse. Focusing on “self” will cause you to react in one of two ways – you will end pridefully self sufficient or paralyzed by your own insufficiency. Focusing on your spouse typically results in the blame game as you seek to avoid all responsibility for the difficulties you face. But focusing on God empowers us to get through the storm not only safely but stronger.

Fortunately we have the Bible as our guide during these difficult times. Listen to our study this week on the power of looking UP toward God vs the devastation of looking DOWN toward ourselves. Moses shows us a fantastic picture of what NOT to do in Exodus 4:10-16. So grab your Bible and let’s spend seven minutes together.

My aim is simple: I want to get you hooked on God’s Word so that you become the godly man your wife and kids need you to be—the faithful warrior God called you to be. As men, we were made to fight, and our greatest weapon is the Word of God. Armed with His truth, we can win the battles desperately raging against us, our marriages, our families, as well as the culture in which we are called to change.
